Why Plants?

There are so many good reasons to make the transition to a plant-based diet and it’s no wonder why so many people are making the switch. If you’re looking to ease animal suffering, reduce your negative impact on the environment, and live an overall healthier life, going plant-based is a great place to start. Perhaps you’ve seen that vegan calculator floating around that shows how many lives a vegan saves in one day. I’ve saved almost 1,400 animals so far, according to this vegan calculator.

Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

I initially adopted a plant-based life style because I wanted to be a healthier person, and enjoy life for as long as possible. These days I consider myself an Ethical Vegan, which means that I do not consume ANY animal products in my food or drink, and I avoid the exploitation of non-human animals in every way possible. That means vegan food, shoes, clothes, cleaning products, and even cat litter.

It’s hard to imagine what reasons I could have ever given for justifying my consumption and use of animal products before I came to veganism. I no longer believe that it is okay to take the life, or happiness of another creature as it if it were mine, whether human or animal. Who am I to decide that one life is more or less than another. And when you think about it, it’s really gross to eat flesh. Yuck.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” -Anatole France
